What are everyone’s thoughts on talking to your pet through a camera while not home?

I have a cat and a Google home that I can talk to my cat through while I’m not home. But I’m hesitant to do it because I feel bad that he might Think I’m home and not understand why I’m not showing myself. I was talking to him earlier and hearing him meow but I can’t tell if they’re meows of being upset or enjoying hearing my voice
