So I’m November I adopted a sweet little rescue kitty who’s about 5 years old (they think- she was anonymously dropped off). She was healthy when I adopted her, had some issues when at the shelter but they said everything looked good. Great! A week and a half later, things were not great.
Basically, nonstop diarrhea (I know it’s so gross). It just was not stopping. Two months later and we are on food number six (all vet recommended). She has had multiple stool and urine tests they all look good. A blood test was good. So they said it’s most likely IBD and that we just have to find the right food (she had two rounds of antibiotics that didn’t help at all). She has two litter boxes but will only sporadically use them (in favor of bath tubs and couches). She leaves cat diarrhea all over the house multiple times a day. Nothing seems to be helping. It’s slightly better but I’m honestly exhausted of having to look where I step not knowing if she’s left anything behind. I know she’s sick but having to wait five more weeks to see if her new food will work is a long long time. Idk I’m just not sure what to do if anything.
I really love her and want to give her the best life but I didn’t know she had a chronic illness when I adopted her so it’s been a tough adjustment. She acts normal otherwise and is my buddy! Idk if anyone has any advice or experience? I’m just really feeling a bit hopeless. Am I just in for ten years of cleaning cat diarrhea off of everything???
