To start this off, yes I already called the vet and am waiting for a call back, but I feel like I am constantly whiplashing between being ok and going insane thinking something is wrong with him, and this has been a constant feeling since he got his surgery. Mostly what I want from this thread is just some discussion, especially from those who have had this surgery done to their cats before and can offer any advice or comfort from the owners perspective. Any input is appreciated, though I won't be doing anything suggested here unless ok'd by the vet.
So my boy's been doing ok since his surgery, he's been peeing but its between a rare good stream and a constant flow of drips, and a lot of litter box visits. The vet said that this would prevent him from blocking again, which his original blockage was an emergency situation (hence the surgery) but due to grit and not crystals, but he going from peeing ok one day to dripping the next and then fine again and I can't figure out if its due to the medication dosage or if its something to be concerned about.
Earlier this week he had a good constant drip of urine, even making good sized puddles of pee, and yesterday and today he's just been sort of....dripping, not a lot at once, and a lot of litterbox visits. He DID just go down to one dose of prazosin TODAY (rather than the two doses) so I don't necessarily think its due to meds, but if you have similar experiences with this, any input is appreciated. He's been on two doses of gabapentin a day now for about a week, (rather than the original 3 times a day he was prescribed) and he actually had to go this recent weekend without it due to a prescription fill delay (though was on it again on monday).
I had called the vet tonight but they haven't gotten back to me yet and I feel like I am overcalling them, though I just don't have any experience with a pet going through such a major and like....emergency type surgery before.
Anyway, to those of you who have dealt with this, either recently or not, please share your experiences, especially if they sound similar to this. Thanks in advanced, and to anyone who finds this due to trying to ease your own worry, I hope you find what you're looking for here <3
