8 year old very playful tabby had “rodent ulcers” starting back in November. A steroid helped get rid of them pretty quickly. Flash forward to December and they came back. No behavioral changes but more steroids knocked them out. To get to more of a root cause rather than try and have him on steroids too long, we decided for the vet to run some tests and try some other methods for permanent resolution. His kidney tests came back a little troubled but nothing too extreme according to the vet. He also started Atopica and a hypoallergenic food in mid January to see if those would help. His health has pretty severely declined since then. First he became very needy, like constantly on my lap every time I sat down. Then his appetite just completely dwindled. He hardly eats, even when I try and give him his old food. He’s lost about 2 lbs in the last month. He’s become weak, frail, and lethargic. He’s also been shedding more than usual. He has a vet appointment tomorrow but I’m really anxious for bad news. This guy has been the only one I’ve had at times. He had never had even a minor health complication his entire life up until November. Can anyone reassure me this is just a side effect of Atopica or something?
