Cat spayed without surgery

• Age: Approx 6 months
• Breed: DSH

Hi, Yesterday we had an appointment to neuter my cat about 9 AM, We went there and we did the operations and came home and the cat was confused and scared and etc.. which i searched online and found out it was ok, I don't know how the male neutrition is done but they cut a line on his genitals and did something, later they told us we don't put in stitches for cats and they were open, we were told for four days we have to insert 0.5CC Betadine (Povidone-iodine) into each of his genitals twice a day, is this a normal way to neuter cats? Won't he have problems in the future? also for his pain we got pills by a vet.
