My 2 year old male cat won’t play for more than five minutes at a time most days. Some days he doesn’t seem interested in playing at all. A few months ago he played quite often. His favorite game was me throwing a makeup sponge so he could run after it. He now no longer cares about any of his toys. I try and rotate them out as best I can. I’ve tried everything from household objects to brand new cat toys. Puzzle feeders, laser pointers, automatic cat toys, etc etc. the list never ends. He’s got tunnels and cat towers and a window that’s always open so he can watch birds and squirrels. He has literally everything he could ever possibly want and although he uses his cat towers and the windows... nothing I do works when it comes to play. I’ve tried everything. I am seriously worried about him getting bored and/ or depressed. I can’t think about anything else. It’s consuming my every thought at this point. Getting another cat is not an option right now. We did try that but he’s aggressive and territorial with other animals so that didn’t work out too well. I just spent then last hour trying to get him to play. He did for about five minutes or so. MAYBE ten. And then went under the bed to nap. He’s got a clean bill of health. I don’t know what the problem could be. Anyone else have any suggestions?! I miss having my play buddy. I’m lucky if I get 30 minutes a day out of him.
