I have 3 cats, two male tabbies and a black female Manx. Probably 6-8 months ago we noticed small, white, moving segments in the fur around the butts of both tabbies. The vet told us they were tapeworms, and gave us some medication for them (either a pill of some liquid to put on the coat of their necks, can’t remember). However, the vet also told us we need to steam clean all our sheets, blankets, and carpets as well as any of the other things the cats might sit on, and wash out all the litter boxes to get rid of eggs. Of course, since it’s a ton of work my parents have been sort of pushing it off because we would need to split the cats up one at a time for a week in our garage. However, I was just wondering, would it really be that terrible if the blankets and bedsheets didn’t get washed, and the cats still got treated and separated? Everything online says the tapeworm eggs are usually large enough to be visible and I can’t imagine there being any around. I also think it’s a bit odd that two cats got them at the same time, when the tapeworms supposedly aren’t contagious at all. I’m just concerned that the problem could get worse over time. Any advice or past experience would be much appreciated, sorry for the disgusting post topic
