Hi all, I am looking for advice/reassurance to help ease my tension. About a week ago I adopted a kitten (9 weeks now) and had been feeling overwhelmed of being responsible of another life in addition to working 9-5. After crying for days, I settled and felt better about my choice and felt less guilty of leaving him behind when going to work (my family members take turns spending time with him).
At first he would meow/cry every time I would leave my room and it would get louder and longer. Based on my family’s feedback, his cries have been decreasing but today he was different (at least to an over thinker like me).
Not only he would cry when I would leave, but follow me around when in the room and would cuddle and like being put to sleep like a baby. Now, I’ve noticed his mood/behaviour shifted.
Based on today’s update, he didn’t sleep much when I was gone and was eating a lot more (free feed when I’m gone compared to bringing it to him). When I came home from work, he did come to me for a bit but then left and was to himself. He also has been hiding under my desk near cables and other small spots more often compared to last week.
This has me worried and in tears. I’m not sure if he’s going through stress, mentally or physically but it’s breaking my heart to see him so.. quiet.
I would appreciate feedback on what this could possibly mean or if I’m over thinking this behaviour. I just really hope he’s happy and I would hate to see him otherwise.
