I’m adopting a cat soon, and I often go to visit her. She’s currently living at a rescue because she just had two kittens. I visit her all the time, and she’s one of the sweetest, friendliest, most affectionate cat. The second time I went to visit her, it had been maybe a week or two since she had her kittens. She’d been just as cuddly as she always is, leaning into my hand, loving on me, and I was loving on her and her babies. While I was on the phone with a friend and petting her, I looked at her, she looked at me, and hissed. It caught me totally off guard and she didn’t do anything after. Just got up, stretched, and started eating. I loved on her babies instead and left her alone, thinking maybe she was sick of being pet. She has never done anything like that since, and she never bites. It was totally out of nowhere. Does anyone know what could cause her to hiss even without any prior aggression/warning signs or anything?
