Can a dog stop being aggressive towards kittens?

One of my friends found 4 newborn kittens on a cardboard box. I said I'd adopt one of them(as I was planning to move in a new place before June but the owner is irresponsible so I have to stay in my parents house for one more month). My friend can't take care of the kitten anymore so I had to bring him home.

I have an 8 year old husky mix that has killed stay cats before in our yard (yes it is fenced and we supervise him, the cats jump over our fence and ATTACK him, we run as fast as we can but he's faster ). My dog is visibly aggressive when a cat enters his territory because they have attacked him so many times before , he will bark and growl and chase it. When we walk him he couldn't care less about cats.We also brought bunnies home and my dog throught they were his babies.

When I bought the kitten home I introduced them (all safety measures taken). He was uninterested. It's been two weeks still doesn't seem to care at all. I did let my dog get close to the kitten to sniff it's butt. My dog did, walked back and fell asleep. Now I sit next to my dog to make sure he will not attack while the kitten runs around and plays, my dog won't even look at the kitten. Even when the kitten hisses at him he is uninterested.

I want to try to let them get closer to each other but I'm still too afraid that he'll snap and I don't want an accident happening. I think he'd have shown at least a sign of aggression by now. Any advice? Experiences?
