Cat (2,5 years) usually calm, suddenly started growling, biting and scratching. Rabies?!

The vet already closed here where I live and google just offers stantard responses. Maybe someone has an idea. So my cat, was always a super calm little fellow, never had any issues. He never bit, he never scratched, he never had any mood swings. Todays as always he came to me, hoped on the bench right next to me, purring, but when I reached his lower back he startd making strange noises. I thought he would be sneazing. So I kept going. he turned around and jsut like when he's playing he nabbed my hand, but then he really locked on, claws and jaws in my hand. it still was a warning bite. He didn't pierce flesh, but he easily could. I was baffled.

Later I gave him his favourite treats, all good, picked him up, all good, let him down again, he dropped himself on teh floor as if he wants to be stroked. This time I slightly touched his head and he started growling again.

Just a mood swing? Maybe pain in his lower back (it started when I touched him there) or worst case rabies

He is vaxxed, but he needs an update shot to keep the immunity up.
