Two days ago we adopted a dog and brought him home for the first time. We kept the introduction to our 1 year old cat very minimal—separate rooms, sniffing through the doors, one upstairs and one downstairs (we’d swap out their places so they can get used to each other’s scents and also get a change of scenery).
However, our cat has now gone 2 days without eating any food, unsure about water but my husband said her litter box was a lot emptier than usual. We’ve kept it behind a secure gate that only she can get to, but the food did get moved to a new location to be able to secure it.
How long should I let this go on before I should be really concerned? Understandably I’m sure she’s stressed but I don’t want her to make herself ill. Is there anything else I should do to make this change easier on her or just give it time?
