We’ve had our bengal cat for about 3 years and he is the sweetest thing. I work for a mental health treatment facility where we have a therapy dog, and I have volunteered to be a part-time take home handler for him. I basically take him during the week and another handler takes him during the weekends so we can optimize his time at work based on our schedules. It has been about 2 months and the two are not getting along… our cat camps out on top of our kitchen cabinet and we never see him, and we have to carry him to his litter box because he’s too scared to walk by the dog. Our dog is relatively uninterested in him, but his prey instinct is activated if our cat acts scared or defensive. We have a little studio, so there’s no opportunity to separate them into different rooms and our landlord doesn’t allow us to nail things into the wall so we can do cat shelves. Is there any hope? My husband has been scratched 3 times due to our cat panicking and flailing.
