I’m desperate. Does anyone have advice to get your cat to stop pooping in the floor? He pees in the litter box fine but refuses to poop in. Instead he goes on the tile floor right in front of it. It’s been like this for the past 6 months. It used to be if it was too dirty (which for him meant literally anything in it) and once we started cleaning it more (like 4x daily) it went away for a bit but started up again a few weeks later. But the 2 years prior were fine. For reference:
- He doesn’t seem ill and is acting fully normal
- He comes and finds us immediately after to tell us he’s gone
- We clean them up immediately
- The box is scooped MULTIPLE times a day
- We’ve used the same unscented litter for the last year and a half
- Yes, I did try switching litter, nothing changed
- He did it at my parents house over the holidays so it’s not something about his box specifically (yes we brought a brand new box for him to use there)
- His diet hasn’t changed
- As for stressors it started about 3 months after we added a second cat, but it’s been 9 months with that second cat (and they’re super close) and it’s continuing
