We lost our seemingly very healthy 13 year old dog very suddenly. She threw up twice on Saturday, after that she seemed okay but then on Monday she wouldn't eat or drink and seemed lethargic. We got her in to the vet on Tuesday morning and they ran some tests and showed that she was in liver and kidney failure. They advised us to take her to the emergency vet which we did, and they admitted her in to the ICU. her liver and kidneys got worse and worse and we had to make the awful decision to have her put to sleep. The vet thinks it might have been a toxin or cancer. We searched our whole house and yard and didn't find anything that she could have gotten into. We don't use any chemicals or pesticides in our yard. Our cars aren't leaking any fluids. She wasn't the type of dog to get into the trash or anything like that. She was at the vet for her 6 month check up 2 weeks ago and they said she looked great. We are shocked at the sudden loss and we miss our baby so much. The only thing we can think is that it might have been cancer. I feel like we failed her and I just hope she knows how much we love her.
