My family has always rescued animals. Dogs, cats, freaking squirrels. Literally we raised a squirrel. But a few days ago there was this stray that just stood out to me. He was skinny and old, his hair was matted and all kinds of stuff. I took him in and my grandmother posted him on facebook trying to find his owner and if we didn’t then we decided to keep him.
He was extremely happy with us. I mean this dog literally turned into a puppy. I ended up falling in love with the dog and named him Shaggy, but that’s when things turned south.
Our facebook post was basically railroaded by 3 individuals saying that we have 48hours to bring the dog into THEIR shelter or they’re going to be calling the police reporting the dog stolen or something along the lines of that. I told my Grandmother to ignore them, there a bunch of karens and shit, but of course…she couldn’t.
She somehow believed the same person who just threatened her, would willingly peaceful come over and scan the dog for a microchip.
The bitch drove out to our house, scanned the dog, and threatened us right then and there. She said she’d take the dog herself- but we talked her down from that and she gave us 2 more days to take the dog, or she was going to take all our dogs AND cats, and have us arrested.
I was like, omg are you serious? I was PISSED at my grandmother, and myself, and this woman, and at earth.
When I brought the dog in finally he was freaking out. He was whining and growling and all kinds of shit and they dragged him off to the back. They made me fill out a form and promised that if they didn’t find the owner they’d let me adopt him.
I should’ve known they were lying.
Turns out if you have one single dog who has a fine, or if your other dogs didn’t get a shot- or cats-, even if they aren’t yours you can’t get a dog.
I couldn’t get the dog because of my eldest brothers dog- who can’t confirm in person because the dudes in prison. AND THE DOGS DEAD. the dog’s been dead for 2 years so they wanted a death certificate, and proof it wasn’t my dog. I didn’t even know dog death certificates existed. Tf?
So i was like alright, I’m going to go get my neighbor to adopt the dog and give it to me. He worked a lot with vets and stuff so I explained it to him and turns out, he believes they couldn’t even do that.
So he went up there and tried to adopt the dog for me, they denied him too. He feeds the strays and stuff, and he even brings them up there to help them get neutered and what not to tru and control the population. But when he went up there they basically said all those cats were his and he had to pay for each one individually…
Idk what to do now.
