So I have to male cats. They will be a year old in august and July. We have a finished basement with a bathroom, two bedrooms and a large living room. Now we’ve made the basement their bedroom basically. Their litter is down there, their beds and what not. We do this because we have two babies and they try to sleep with them at night and that’s a hazard so they sleep downstairs for the night. Okay but the problem is they literally reek of stinky cat litter. I know it’s the litter that smells. The whole basement stinks so bad we can now not use it. The smells even lingers up the stairs to the kitchen and It’s so strong. The cats stink and have to have baths constantly. I don’t understand why it stinks so freaking badly. We have two huge boxes and clean it once a day and change the whole litter once every few days. Why is it so freaking bad?! They’ve been to the vet and there’s no health issues. So why is this happening? It’s disgusting and I’m not an animal person, these are my husbands cats so I’m so close to finding them new homes. My kids can’t play in their playroom and I can’t even go to the office down there. It’s just so annoying and my ppd is really making it hard to like these cats on top of this.
