TL:DR; My cat has anxiety. He used to be SCARY MEAN even after being neutered. Now that he's medicated, he wants to be touching my skin at all times or he cries or does other annoying/dangerous things, like trying to climb in the oven while I'm cooking, or climing in the bathtub with me and refusing to get out (he's sneaky... I didn't know he was in the room). How can I get a little personal space?
My cat has general anxiety disorder. I give him his medication daily, and he's awesome about letting me give it to him. Before I knew this, he was dangerously agressive and territorial, even after being neutered. I have scars on my arms, from trying to protect my eyes from him. He has also snuck into my room and tried to smother me at night, and still tries to grab my other cat by the throat and shake if I don't get there first. It was getting to be a "me or the cat" problem because my husband didn't realize how bad it was at first.
Now that cat's medicated, I am the person he trusts the most, and he will alow me to do anything to him I need to. Nail clipping, giving meds, cleaning ears/teeth... he's cool with it as long as it's me.
He won't listen if I don't want him on my lap, or don't want to pet him. He tries to trip me when my hands are full. He tries to rub all over my pants when I'm trying to get ready for my job, which involves food prep. My husband frequently has to scruff the cat and put him in a cardboard box for a bit to get him off me long enough I can eat dinner. (He bites/scratches if I try to move him and stand up). He will bite and try to take away my journals, phone, game controller, etc if I don't notice he's there. He fake falls off the back of the couch on me and pretends he landed on me on accident. If I say "out" when he's in my room, he will hide under my bed to try to stay (doesn't do this anywhere else, and I dont want him on my pillow because allergies) He tries to climb in the oven if he's mad I'm not looking at him while I'm trying to cook. Recently he snuck into the bathroom, then climbed in the tub with me and wouldn't get out. The neighbors have complained because he cries like he's in pain any time I'm not touching him and they thought I was abusing him until they saw it for themselves. He is currently patting my toes and softly cry meowing.
How do I get some personal space from this cat?
