Here's the situation.
My puppy is 10 weeks old(her name is oreo), and I am well aware that puppies are going through teething during this time. This is our family dog, and I am a teenager. The other day, oreo was playing with my mom in the backyard, but she likes nipping and biting, so she gave my mom a few scratches on her arm and face. This happens pretty often, because she always thinks we're playing with her, normally, I would stand still and move a toy around, and usually, she goes and tries to play with the toy instead. This day, however, I was in online school, so I wasn't aware of the situation. My mom wanted to teach her a lesson, so she locked her in the bathroom. I was pretty pissed at my mom for this, and I kept arguing with her.
Let me describe the bathroom, there is a window in there, but it is a relatively small space because it is not the main bathroom, therefore there is only a toilet and sink with some floor space. Oreo normally chills there and sleeps cause the floor is stone and cold, while the rest of our house has wood flooring. My brother told me that since she chills there voluntarily and sleeps there sometimes, it wouldn't really matter. Despite this, I still think it is very cruel to do to a small animal. Doing this wouldn't teach her anything, and probably make the situation worse, but I can't do much to convince them. To their defence, the longest she has been in there was about 15-20 minutes, and she normally stops howling after 5-10 minutes or so. I have read that some articles online say that dogs like closed spaces, but she is already crate trained and potty trained, and it's only been 2 weeks. My family has a hard time thinking she is a very good pupper, even though I think so, today I slept the whole night without waking up to take her out (my bad) but I woke up to no accidents. Imo, she is already a very good dog and I don't think locking her in the bathroom would help her in any shape, way or form, but I don't know if that's just me.
