My roommate's cats suddenly follow me around everywhere

I moved in a little while ago, and I've never really been around cats, so I don't know if this is normal behaviour. I wake up a lot earlier and more frequently at night than my other housemates, so I give the cat food and water, and I sit with her while she eats (she's a nervous eater). I do play with her but I'm usually very busy with school.

For the past two days, she's come into my bedroom (only when my partner is gone), and she'll lay in bed with me while I work. She just this morning started waking me up by licking my nose. She's started to make more purring noises while I pet her. This behaviour is a lot different than her behaviour towards my other housemates, (She doesn't enjoy spending as much time with them, but she does give them affection) so I just wanted to know if she was okay?

Granted, she isn't my cat, but I saw online sometimes being very affectionate is a sign of something being wrong her owner has moved out, and I'm not sure whose cat she is now, so I thought I would ask before raising any alarm bells
