Should I get a third cat?

At the beginning of last year, my cat that I had for 14 years passed. I wasn’t ready to get a new cat yet so I started to foster with the thought that I would get 2 kittens from the same litter when I felt the time was right. Obviously I had a foster fail and ended up adopting a 7 year old cat in March of 2020. Then in June I adopted a kitten. The older cat took a while to get used to the kitten. They get along now and groom one another but they don’t play together ever. My kitten is now a year old and he’s getting a little chonky (cute as hell but …). I feel like he needs more play time and he does love to play with me but you can tell that he desperately wants to play with my older cat who wants no part of it. Am I crazy to get another kitten?? My thought process behind it is that maybe he can have a play buddy and my older cat can be less annoyed by they younger ones. What are the chances this backfires on me??

Just for context, I’ve always only had one cat at a time. So having two is new for me this past year. But wtf is having three like?? Please advise me cat people of the internet. I will be forever grateful.
