Advice on keeping cat hidden in apartment

So I just got a cat from a shelter, my apartment allows pets as long as you get approved for it and pay the security deposit and such. I got the cat after moving in and have been wanting to wait til I get the cat looked at by a vet to see if the shelter missed anything important rather or not I should take him back. Turns out I have an inspection soon as well which I found out after getting the cat. I wanna mention I have no issues at all paying the non refundable security deposit and extra rent but I don’t wanna do it for a cat that could turn out having a bunch of health issues that I didn’t know about and would have to take back since I live alone and work too much to be able to keep up with medication. Does anyone have any advice on what I can do to keep my cat hidden during the unknown inspection timeframe? He’s a pretty vocal cat when he ain’t happy so locking him in a pet taxi and putting him in a wardrobe won’t work. I also know someone who could take the cat on a car ride for a few hours but I don’t wanna traumatize the cat or end up having the cat back right before inspection as my friend has a limited open schedule
