Stop talking like you are the only one who has done the right research!!

I made a simular post about this. About closed minded people. But I wanna make this more a vent.

So this about ferrets (I came on here because I think a lot of people should read it, and not only the ferret community)

So I have a ferret. Only one. With basic research ferrets are described as solitair animals. Now if you have done better research you learn that ferrets are indeed solitair animals but have been breeded into being social. So you can officially describe them as social animals.

So I have my ferret is 2 years old now. We are having a great time together. But he rather sleeps than play with me. Now I know ferret need 14-18 hours of sleep a day. But he barely plays. It isn’t like he plays at all but he plays very little.

So I follow this youtuber who recomends having 2 ferrets. And that this (the thing I just described) is a sign of depression.

So I decided to get a second ferret. So I contact this person because she wants to sell her ferret. Adopt not shop. She want the best for her ferrets so she was asking me questions and I was asking her questions of course. But then I told her I would put her ferret with my ferret. And asked her if her ferret is used to that.

And immidiatly she gets in defend mode. Like no she cannot handle that, and she talks about the life trauma her ferret has been going through. Okay fine then I look for another ferret ya know. But this girl really was out here convincing me that I shouldn’t get a second ferret. Because he is too old to ever socialize. Ferrets can get the age of 10.

But like I’m planning on doing it slowly. First getting to know eachothers sent, then getting to know eachother with a fence inbetween them. and after a week put them together. And if they fight I will either send the ferret back. Or have to sell her myself.

And I told this to her. But she is blaming it on that my ferret is probably sick. Like hello, don’t randomly accuse me of being a bad ferret taker. And not that my ferret being sick makes me a bad ferret taker. But I would know if he was sick. I check on him like everyday (healthwise) He eats normally, his poops are normal. His weight is normal, The only thing that is wrong is that he is bored. So I wanna get him a friend.

Like why would you ever accuse someone of that, just because they have different info than u do.

Like she is an actual good ferret caretaker, I could tell. But she was so closed minded. Like the way she takes care of animals is the only good way. Nooo there are ton of different ways, all to be respected.

And she said it in such a sweet way that I know she was really trying to convince me. Like saying her ferrets act on it and all. And that is the way how it works in her house hold. Without actually attacking me (except the illness part). But everytime I told my point of vieuw. It was immidiatly wrong in her eyes.

And I could also tell that she has trust issues. But that isn’t an excuse
