Tips for moving my cats??

Hi guys!

So we’re moving in April about 3-4 hours drive away from where we are now. I have two cats and I’m just trying to think of everything I can to make the transition most comfortable for them.

So far the only thing I have planned is to see the vet 1 or 2 weeks before we go and get their shots up to date, change the address for their microchip, and ask for a light sedative they can take for the car ride.

Do you think it would be better to have both cats in separate carriers in my car or should one go with my husband in his car?

Also I need a new cat carrier for an extra large cat (you can check my post history to see what I mean lol) does anyone have any suggestions? I was looking on amazon and most of them say for a medium size cat.

When we get to our new apartment would the best thing to do is put them both in the same bathroom with food and a litter box until the movers are done and then let them out just into our bedroom so they get used to the small space first? Sometimes when they are agitated they get pissy with each other so should I just nip that in the bud and put them in separate bathrooms from the get go?

Thanks for any advice!!
