How should I train my two dogs?

So, I'll start off by saying that I really regret not bringing my dogs to training classes when they were younger. I have a two year old hyper German Shepherd who knows sit, stay, and lay down. That's about it. I also have a one year old Staffordshire pit who only knows sit and lay down. Depending on the day. My boyfriend and I didn't really spend a whole lot of time training them like we should have, but I would really like to see if we're able to still teach them a thing or two. The thing is, our pitbull is a jealous little thing. Anytime we give our German Shepherd any type of treat or praise, our pit feels the need to come right up to us and try to get some loving or treats unless we REALLY raise our voices and yell at him to stay away. Our German Shepherd couldn't care less if his brother gets any attention at all, so training the shepherd would be easy. Our house isn't the biggest, so we can't really close either of them off in a separate room to spend time training the other one unless we kennel them, which I guess would be an option. I guess my question is, for people who have two dogs, what would you recommend? Trying to train both dogs at the same time, or training them individually? Or mixing it up and doing a little of both? Also, any tips/tricks/hints would be greatly appreciated! Also also, my German Shepherd is a VERY smart dog, but he's also very stubborn (as most Shepherds are) so additional tips on how to work with shepherds would be great! We've always had Shepherds growing up, and my dad had a very, very smart one who could climb ladders, count, do all this rad stuff, but she got hit by a car and passed away very early on, and no dog could compare to her so he was so hurt that he didn't really want to spend that much time training another dog. I know I can always go to him for tricks, but I also don't want to bring up a sore subject for him. Again, any advice is helpful! Thanks in advance!

**also, I'm mainly just talking tricks, like roll over, shake, etc*
