So the title says it all I've always wanted a cat but could never get one but now in a couple of months we might be moving and I may have the chance to finally get a cat! The thing is next year I plan on doing a RTW trip for 1 or 2 years. I plan on leaving next November. Obviously this raises the issue I want a cat but I want to travel so what should I do? I still live at home and if I got a cat and left to travel for a while I wouldn't be giving it up or anything he or she would just stay with my mother and sister. My mother has had many cats in the past so she knows how to take care of them so that wouldn't be a problem. What I'm wondering is is this a bad idea? Is it a selfish idea to get a cat when I know I'm gonna leave and be gone for a while? Like I said it's not like I'd give the kitty up it just would be in the care of my mother and I'd come back for it after my travels but is this wrong to the cat?
I love animals so I'd never want to do anything to upset or wrong them so people of reddit please NICELY give me your honest opinion on what I should do.
