Normal behavior for older cat with adopted kitten?

We had a 9 year old adult cat who, while lounged around a lot like most cats do, would get a major case of the "zoomies" at night and still seemed to have a lot of energy. Last month we adopted a 3 month old kitten, and while the introductions were rough, they seemed to get along fine a few days later. They eat together, both sleep in the same bed with us, and chase each other/wrestle. However, I've noticed that the new kitten has mellowed out my older one A LOT. She used to be pretty rambunctious, but ever since we got the new one, all she seems to do is eat and go straight back to sleep, with the occasional chase around at night. Lately since it's been hotter, she's been even more lethargic. Is this normal? The decline in energy was significantly noticeable and i'm wondering if the two of them together is sustainable for her.
