Recently employed after a yr of unemployment, will my cat get lonely when I go to work?

My cat is so used to me being around all of the time. He already waits at the door for me when I so much as step out for a minute to run to the store

I can't get another pet to keep him company because 1. i cant afford it and 2. my cat hates other animals
