I have a 2 year old male kitty named Broobi, who up until a few days ago, has always been very playful, spirited, and carefree. The other night he suddenly woke from his sleep in a panic, jumped and scurried away. Ever since then he has been acting unsettled, even very panicked at times. When he is awake, he walks around the house smelling everything, very jumpy at sudden touch/movements/noises. He's plays a little when engaged but not nearly as much, he's completely lost his playful spirit. He generally still eats ok but is not as motivated by food as he was.
Has this happened to anyone else? I suppose I'm looking for answers on why this happening. I'm really concerned that maybe there's an underlying health issue. If it's just some kind of cat PTSD, I'm wondering if there are some effective cat anti-anxiety treatments. I just plugged in a feliway diffuser yesterday but it hasn't helped yet. I'm also just seeking hope that my sweet boy's quality of life can go back to normal :(
