Everything I've learned from my foster cat.

  1. Persistence.

During my mandatory quarantine I decided to let a cat stay with me. There's a rumor around the neighborhood that he belongs to the corner people but I can't confirm that. He's been hanging around for about a year. Every time I went outside to take my garbage out or tend to my garden he was there. Eventually he just started hanging by my door and asking for food. This led me to the discovery that my neighbor who "adopted him" was neglecting him. She took off for over a month now and he is legaly mine, as I'm the one who feeds him.

  1. Soft is strong.

This guy. This DUUUUDE was on the streets starving, dealing with feral cats, and freezing in -2F weather and still remained the most cuddly, snuggly, loving cat I've ever met. Most of the time, cats hide and attack when in a new environment. Nah, this cat was like "wow, look at my new castle! I'm so happy to be here" at SIX YEARS OLD. He had no cause to trust that my house was safe but he just went with it. Now I get head boops and biscuits every day.

  1. You never forget where you come from.

This cat is older, fixed, and litter box trained. He was someone's pet at some point. Idk if he was abandoned, ran away, or his owners died. But this cat was loved at some point. I went to the pet store to buy my monthly supplies and decided to pick up a bag of temptations cat treats. I hadn't even taken off the tamper proof seal when he recognized the bag and came running. He knows that people are his life source, and that makes his year on the streets all that more sad and scary. What was he thinking all of those nights spent alone under improvised shelter? I spent hours combing lost pet adds from a year ago, and had him scanned for a microchip. I don't know who owned him before but they are either dead or don't care that their pet is gone. That's so sad to me. He remembers who his people once were.

  1. Never underestimate the power of a nap.

Does this really need explaining? A nap can change your whole mood. It can also kill an hour of time you'd have otherwise spent doing useless stuff. . .or shudders adulting. This cat has cause soooo many naps over the last 5 days. I'm better for it.

I could talk for hours about this handsome, underweight, demon of a cat! If you want more cat content (tm) to fill your time ask asany questions as you want about him. If I don't have an answer I will find it. Anything from weight gain diet to how he picks his ass is welcome.
