6 year old cat has become very aggressive

We have had our female cat for 6 years. About 2 months ago she started being severely aggressive towards my boyfriend. If he moved in bed she would jump up from underneath and claw and bite his face, arms, back, you name it. If he spoke or made any noise she would do the same. If he got up to have a drink she would stalk and viciously attack. I'm not talking a small attack. I'm talking like she wants to kill him, she will go for him 5 or 6 times. It's bizarre because she marches on his chest and purrs but then suddenly switches... We have taken her to the vet twice since then and it seems behaviour hasn't changed. Once for a check up and the second time to get spayed. It's very strange and out of character as my cat and him used to be the closest however it seems all the aggression is towards him not me. We both feed her, she has a courtyard to play in, cat houses and perch, toys, lasers and treats. I have booked in with a behaviorist next week but I don't know what to do with her in the meantime. If we lock her out the room at night she scratches on the door for hours and hours... scratching and crying. I'm at a point where I don't know what to do. Ive asked for temporary medication from the vet but they dont want to prescribe anything until she is assessed by the behaviorist. My partner is visibly upset and doesn't understand. Any suggestions on how to settle her at night? I'm actually worried there might be something wrong with her psychologically. She's always been a happy, spoilt little kitty and we haven't intentionally done anything to hurt or mistreat her. Help pls :(
