Cat behavior?

So sometimes - I feel like this is when I don't immediately attend to him when he's in a playful mood - my cat will jump on his shelf and when I look up and over at him he will arch his back, tail up all fluffy (not completely rigid), dilated pupils, ears sideways (not flat and back).

I just look at him incredulously cuz he looks ridiculous haha but of course make sure not to stare and when I look away or move he'll go running around with his zoomies. If I ignore him he'll calm down eventually. He never attacks me in this state (I don't feel like he will as long as I don't provoke him obviously) and I know enough to throw him some chew toys he can take his aggression out on. For a while too when he looks at me he'll sort of dilate his pupils with ears sideways but it goes away and he goes to sleep.

What throws me off is when I look this behavior up google search says the cat is either being aggressive or defensive. This is the time he goes most ham on his chew toys.. I guess I'm just looking for reassurance that this is normal cat behavior and I'm not doing anything to stress him out.

Sometimes he'll also run towards me like this but on all fours so he'll be like running/hopping??? But he actually doesn't get close and makes a u turn. It's absolutely ridiculous and makes me LOL. Cats are kooky <3
