Today I found out that my cat has fleas after noticing a black spot moving through her white fur. I caught that one and decided to brush her and found a few more. I worried it was a bigger problem...
My cat stays indoor and has been 'clean' her entire 14 years of life. We have no idea how the fleas came but I found out online that it's a common thing. We don't have carpet. We have a bath mat and kitchen rags that stay damp and she likes to lay on them to beat the heat at night. I have since dumped all her favorite soft items in warm water with dawn dish soap and got a flea comb from the pet store. I picked out a dozen of those little shits off her. It seems like more has to be done to solve the problem though.
I found some flea collars online ($8 - $80?) the price range seemed ridiculous and some reviews suggested that they may leave bald spots from the chemical burn so I felt iffy with collars. Don't want to put my cat through more stress.
I also read about topical solutions like doing a 6 month treatment or something. I don't know what to really do. Any suggestions?
