Does there come a point where it’s too late to reintroduce cats that attack each other?

To quickly sum up, we took our male cat Eris (1 year old) to the vet to get nurtured. When he got back my mom didn’t think to keep him away from the other cats due to his medical smell and he got attacked by his sister (1 year old). When he came out of hiding he saw Starla (10 years old, not his sister) and seems to have immediately grown a grudge towards her. They use to get along so well, now they fight each other whenever given the chance with fur flying everywhere (Eris initiates the fights). My mom has attempted to reintroduce the cats, but that seems to fail since she won’t make an effort to make sure that they’re separated. I keep having to put Aries back in the bathroom he’s currently staying in and it feels like no progress has been made. This has been going on for a few weeks now. Is it just too late for these two to like each other again? Is there any special advice out there for reintroducing cats that fight when given the chance otherwise?
