My cat is an adult rescue who is about 9 years old and male. I’ve had him for 5 years. I am guessing he’s part Maine coon based on his size and appearance. He was fine for the first 4 years but 6 months ago he had issues peeing and I took him in, got some meds (urethra relaxing meds and pain meds). Recently same thing happened but he had to have surgery and have crystals removed from his urethra. I got him a prescription diet and started feeding wet food twice a day instead of once. He has multiple water cups and bowls around the apartment. I tried a fountain and he hated it.
He just doesn’t drink water! Ever! What do I do? I sometimes mix water in with his wet food but he doesn’t like it as much. I bought pretty litter to track his peeing more easily. (Ps I really like it). But he only pees maybe once per day. What else can I do?
TLDR: my cat has urinary issues but won’t drink water. How do I get him to drink more?
