So basically my whole life I’ve been allergic to animals and therefore never had a pet. My allergies to cats recently got much better so I decided to adopt a cat from my grandparents who rescue cats (that way if allergies got bad again, she’d just go to her old home not to a shelter). I’m on night 3 and I’m realizing pets are a huge adjustment. I love this cat and we’ve bonded really quickly, but I’m having a really hard time with the smells and constantly having to make sure she’s not destroying stuff in my apartment. Also she’s woken/kept me up every night by meowing and knocking things over. Does anyone have any tips for adjusting to being a first time pet owner? I’m worried I’m too set in my ways at this point to be a successful pet owner but I love this cat so much and want to do right by her.
