So I adopted an adult cat from the shelter because she was shy and looked so sad I couldn't help it. I've taken her home and I put her in a room by herself with food and water and a litter box and one of those plug ins that has calming pheromones or something. It's been a week, and I've definitely seen progress. When I got her, she wouldn't let anyone touch her and she stayed hidden. Now, she'll eat from my hand and loves to be petted. The only problem is, she still won't come out of her cat bed. I have to reach in to pet her, and she'll purr and lean into it and stand up so I can scratch her, but she won't come out. Is this normal or is there something else I should be doing? This is my first pet and I'm just trying to do my best to cheer her up.
