We think that last night my dog (rottweiler, about 6 years old) may have pulled a muscle in her neck or shoulder because whenever she turns her head or looks around she cries out in pain. It started last night and at first she seemed a bit better today as I was able to take her for a walk (she whined a little at first when she'd lean down to smell something but seemed fine after a few minutes as long as she didn't move around too fast). We kept her from hopping up on to furniture so she didn't hurt herself and she seemed to be doing better, albeit a little slower. But this evening I passed out on the couch for 20 minutes and woke up to see that she jumped onto a couch in a different room, and as I was trying to ease her off she would practically scream in pain when she moved the front of her body. She eventually hopped off and just kinda stood there for a minute to regain her bearings before I led her to her bed and got her to lie down, and that's where she's been all evening. Unfortunately whenever someone came home she would get excited and move around causing her to yell out in pain again.
Right now she's asleep, we got her comfortable and gave her some Benadryl to help her sleep and not move around too much. We also blocked her off in the dining room so she doesn't try to climb up on a couch and hurt herself, and we're going to call the vet first thing tomorrow morning.
Now I'm trying to sleep but I can't stop worrying and I keep hearing the sound of her crying out playing in my head. I've gotten so little sleep the past couple of days and I know I need it but I am seriously struggling tonight
