My dog collapsed while running with another dog at the dog park. The other dog didn't hurt her or touch her at all. She fell at my feet and initially started rocking back and forth because she was attempting to get herself up with one paw but couldn't do it. She then laid on her side and started shaking and whimpering. When I tried to comfort her she rolled on her back with all fours stiff and up in the air. She had a very blank look on her face but was conscious. I tried to help her up when she started looking at me again but she couldn't stand so I had to carry her out to the car. She was able to walk again about 2 minutes after onset. She initially had a hard time walking when I put her down and was just calm and nervous, cowering in in the corner of the car. She is a 2 year old, otherwise healthy Australian cattle dog.
I took her to the emergency vet and the vet said physical exam and blood work looked okay. The vet is telling me she thinks it was related to pain... But my dog is a drama queen and usually limping and yelping when she's in pain... This did not look like her presentation of pain at all. I try not to over react but this was a really scary event.
Has anyone heard of this? It almost looked like a focal seizure, but I've never seen them in dogs before so I don't exactly what to look for. Any help or ideas are appreciated.
