As above, we’re adopting a 15 year old cat. For context, she’s been at the shelter for nearly a year and has struggled with it a lot. Her previous owner died after a long struggle with Parkinson’s and dementia. He kept her until the end and the centre thinks that the last year was quite traumatic for her. They’ve given us lots of general information on cat care and setting up the home. We’ve sorted out the meds she needs, insurance and the specialist food that the centre recommended. She’ll be an indoor cat due to her age, and she arrives on Tuesday!
I’d love to hear any tips and tricks you have specifically for helping very old kitties settle happily into a new home. My partner and I had cats as children but neither of them reached 15, so this is new territory for us!
Thanks Reddit!
