Will my cat be okay in this living situation?

So I recently adopted an 8 week old kitten a few weeks ago, and I brought him home and my roommate freaked out. We had talked a little about me getting a cat, but not enough I guess and she wants me to keep him in my room all the time because she is mildly allergic.

I feel too bad just forcing him to exist solely in my moderately sized apartment bedroom. Whenever she is at work I let him roam the apartment (I close her bedroom door) and since he doesn’t shed yet my roommate hasn’t found out. When he is in my bedroom he has a bunch of toys and stuff to crawl on, and I’m mostly in there with him as I work from home. I also bring him to my boyfriends house once or twice a week and we let him explore all over there.

Obviously eventually I’m gonna have to compromise with my roommate and try to see if she’s alright with him living freely in our apartment. If that means I’m vacuuming every single day I will do it. Do you have any advice on keeping her allergies at bay? And do you think me letting him roam for 40 hours a week is enough to keep him happy for now?
