How much should I be feeding my cat?

My female cat weighs 10 lbs. We are first time cat owners and we adopted her in August and since then we have been free feeding her dry food. Meaning that we leave her dry food out and she has small meals/ snacks whenever she is hungry until the bowl is done. Once the bowl is done we add more. However we noticed that she is looking a bit chunkier so we have decided to change her feeding plan.

I did some research and found that a 10 lb cat needs about 216 calories. So we are giving her 1/4 cup dry food (Nutram Ideal Solutions: Skin, Coat and Stomach) in the morning which is supposed to be 96 calories as 1 cup equals 385 calories.

Then in the evening we give her 1 portion of the Whiskas Perfect Portions Chicken Dinner Pate but the calories for this are confusing to me. I assume after reading the package that 1 portion is 71 calories.

Then lastly at nighttime, we do a bit less than 1/4 cup of the same dry food.

Is this a good routine? If not, please give me suggestions. We want to maintain her weight at 10 lbs.
