Today I found out my sweet angel akita has discoid lupus.
I’m super sad and stressed right now, so if anyone would like to share their experience with discoid lupus I would appreciate it.
My vet told me it’s not life threatening at all, she’ll be fine it’s just uncomfortable during a flare up. Right now, i’m giving her 8 pills a day so I know she’s gotta feel a little weird and that makes me sad. Not to mention her medication is $600, and getting pet insurance would be pointless considering it’s now considered a pre-existing condition.
my vet also told me the medication might not be a constant thing, just whenever she has a flare up but it’s hard to tell how often that might be.
