The neighbors cat has, for a few months now, seemed to prefer our backyard and company over that of the neighbors.
I don't mind this, as he's generally pretty chill and I had been wanting an outdoor cat to help with rat intimidation.
We have a 15 week old puppy (who just got the last of his puppy vaccinations) and a newborn (human) so I want to make sure everything's kosher.
I asked the neighbors (slight language barrier) if the cat has been vaccinated, to which they responded 'I think' I asked if he's been fixed, to which they responded 'no' I asked if they are feeding him, to which they responded 'we give him a this much (she showed an amount with her hands) but we also see him across the street hunting rats'
I posted a video of him on social media and someone in the comments suggested he looked a little underfed and possibly has an eye infection. I don't think he has an eye infection but he does look a little skinny to me.
My question is what is my responsibility to him and what is considered over stepping as far as the neighbors duty to him?
Should I take him to the vet since the neighbors don't know if he's been vaccinated? Should I try to feed him?
Any advice/wisdom will be appreciated 🙏🏾
