So recently I took in a stray cat. She had been wandering my neighborhood for a couple weeks and was skittish to approach me and then I found her going through my garbage can and brought her some food. She followed me down to my porch ( I live up on a ridge ), started eating and then just slept on my porch for the next few days. So I got the feeling like she wasn’t going to leave and she didn’t. I’m pretty sure she was abandoned because I’ve searched everywhere for owners and can’t find any posted of her. I took her to the vet and they gave her a pill for worms, checked her out and all that. I gave her a bath and some of Walmart’s flea medication. I was told they took over frontlines patent and that was the stuff to use. I can’t believe anyone would abandon this cat. She is absolutely the sweetest cat I have ever encountered in my life. She doesn’t have a mean bone in her body. When I went to bathe her she didn’t even attempt to scratch or get aggressive with me. The clinic I took her to guessed that she’s anywhere from 6-8 years old. So one thing I have noticed is that from time to time she will start to have a little coughing episode. Maybe like once a week. I don’t know if it’s a hair ball but my guess is no because it sounds like an actual cough. It will never last for more than a minute and a half or two then she’s fine. So I guess that is part of the reason that I am posting and I was also wondering what I can give her to eat that contains the vitamins and nutrients she needs without breaking the bank. I give her two small cans of wet food a day. Along with maybe 3/4 a cup of dry food. Also I don’t know if I’m feeding her too much. She was really malnourished when I found her tho. Only 5.5 pounds. I’ve just never owned a cat before and never really liked them until recently. I figured this would be a good place to ask. Thanks.
