As title said.
Last week, mom and I brought cat in to vet for licking herself and scratching herself raw and bleeding. Vet said she was fine and recommended to change her food as a possible way to stop the itching. So over the past week, we fed her grain-free wet food (Purina Pro Plan Grain Free for Sensitive Skin and Sensitive Stomach). She was fine all week and showed improvement.
Today, we got some good dry kibble (Canidae Grain Free Pure dry cat food chicken). I thought she was fine. But later, she crawled up to me and had a swollen mass in her ear. Was warm to touch, looked red, saw a small scratch and scabbing.
Mom wants cat to go back to her old food, I think this is a self-inflicted wound and subsequent infection. Vet will be called, but it's late on a Saturday night. I feel really bad because I just wanted to help out the cat because she seemed so miserable and itchy on the cheap food. Now we're going back to the vet. :-/ Is this a food allergy or a wound infection?
