Hi, I'm going to be doing a good amount of searching on this subject,( there's got to be something like this out there.) But thought I'd put this out there here on Reddit first for advice.
Our 11 yr old rescue dog (rescued at 2) has a serious tumor growth issue. One tumor, under her ear has been torturing her for a number of years. It's grown significantly in a matter of months, she claws gently-ish at it, and it's open and bleeding, has been on and off for a year.
It's beyond an unacceptable situation. This is the second time this had happened with it being open for a long time.
The vet initially said just use Neosporin and clean it often, but this is beyond that type of mild care and manageability.
She gets blood spots all over everything, and the odor from the wound is horrible.
She's the sweetest girl, a tan pitbull with a "dash" of greyhound I believe.
The vet has said full removal of just this one tumor would cost over $1000 with the majority of that amount going towards anesthesia.
My question is this: is there any online resource that can raise funds for an operation like this, where the received amount is paid directly to the vet, as to avoid scammers etc? Or a trusted third party?
It's a serious problem, and I think people could come together to provide a financial solution to it. Hopefully that would be the case, as we cannot afford this.
