I took my kitten to the vet today because she's been limping and I think she broke her leg doing her stuff outside. I couldn't afford an x-ray and surgery (they estimated like $700), but got her some pain medication. They said she will heal without surgery and such but she will limp for the rest of her life. I'm trying to find another affordable place or way to get her more help, but I just wanted to know since she's so young if it really would cause severe problems in the future. I have a humongous crate for her to chill in with food water and her litter box without jumping around and hurting herself further, but I just want to get a second opinion. If I do just let her heal on her own will she be possibly in pain for the rest of her life, or just limping? I really don't want to surrender her but I just want to do what's best for her. They're not sure without an x-ray if it's broken or fractured or just sprained. She's only 5-6 months old and I know when I broke a bone when I was younger it healed with no complications on it's own without much attention. I've been looking into surrendering her so she can get all her help and adopting her after but I'm not sure how realistic that could be. If she did have a permanent limp I would be able to accommodate it and keep her otherwise comfortable but I just need some advice. I've already posted this on other sites but I just want to cover more ground. If any vets or very experienced people can give me a second opinion that'd be great. I'm not sure if this is okay to post here but again I have been to the vet and she's otherwise in perfect health and I am making sure she's not hurting herself or otherwise in pain. I am looking for another clinic that would do the x-ray and stuff a little more affordable, but I don't know. She's been walking around and cuddling and eating and drinking fine. Thank you anyone who comments.
