Cat Vomiting, Vet says nothing is wrong, Cat Antidepressants, I am at my wits end.

As the title says, my cat has been vomiting. Vet has done bloodwork, ultrasound, changed diet, put her on amitriptyline, says nothing is wrong with her.

It all started when she turned 3 in September. Suddenly her wet food was coming up as soon as she would eat it. We would try giving her half to slow her down, watering it down, etc. Then she started vomiting up her dry food too. Her meow was hoarse (and has still never fully recovered from all the vomiting). We've given her hairball gel, but there was no sign of intestinal blockages anyway. The bloodwork only showed that she had a uti due to inflammation and not bacteria. They said it could be due to stress (we adopted kittens 4 months prior to these issues). Vet can't determine why she is vomiting so put her on the dry Digestive Care i/d diet because she ended up vomiting the wet food too. I have been to the vet 4 different times, spending over $400 in vet bills and special food.

Vet gave her amitriptyline for stress and because she is a slightly aggressive cat, hoping to help with both of those things. I know the medication can have side effects, but... I feel like I am right back where I started but now we are worse off. She has been on the medication for a month or so and now has quit eating the special digestive food. She started vomiting yellow bile. I finally got her to start eating this other grain free food the kittens are eating (it's for adults and kittens) because we would notice her sneaking a couple bites. She just ate and drank water and STILL vomited up yellow bile 15 minutes later.

I am literally at my wits end. I trust my vet but I feel like perhaps I should get a second opinion. It could be the antidepressant, but it also leaves me second guessing the vet. Why give me a medication that makes her previous symptoms WORSE due to the side effects of the medication? I miss how her meows used to be, I don't know if her voice will ever come back now. It makes me so sad that I feel like we have tried so much and I keep digging deeper in my pockets for nothing to come out of this.

Has anyone else experienced something similar? Any thoughts on the amitriptyline? Should we be getting a second opinion?
