I think my cat has asthma and am taking her in ASAP. She has occasionally gone into coughing and gagging fits these past couple months, but I initially thought it was a hairball problem. No hairballs and she is starting to wheeze, so it's something more serious.
The thing is, people keep telling me to check her gums and see if they are blue or dark purple because that apparently means a lack of oxygen, but her gums and her lips are naturally black. They always have been. Part of the roof of her mouth is pink, and of course her tongue is. Can I rely on the color of her tongue to check her oxygen levels?
Thanks in advance.
